Summer Policy Updates

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I wanted to update you on a few things as we move toward the beginning of school on
Wednesday, August 20 th :

 Our new HS Principal is Dr. David Maass

 Our new Elementary Principal is Katy Jones

 Online Registration is now open (See District Website Homepage).

 Construction at the MS/HS will be 98% complete when we start school. There will be an area in the building where the old cafeteria was located that will not be completed until September 12th. We will send out some more information regarding this as we get closer to the start of school. All other areas will be
completed, allowing our MS/HS students to be inside during the day, except when they have to go to Ag or the Field House.

 Haskell Road is currently being resurfaced so please use the Washington Lane entrance at the Elementary School.

 As many of you know the 89th Legislature passed HB 1481 regarding student cell phone use during the school day. Our new guidelines for student cell phone use are as follows (this will also be in the 25-26 Student Handbook):

In accordance with HB 1481 passed by the 89th Texas Legislature:

The District does not permit student use of personal cell phones or personal telecommunication devices at any time during the school day. These devices must remain turned off, kept out of sight, and cannot be used during the school day by students except for the following reasons:

 Documented allowable use in a student’s IEP Plan

 Documented allowable use in a student’s 504 Plan

 Documented medical directive from a Physician

 In case of an emergency a student may use their cell phone with permission from a school district staff member. The staff member should remain with the student during use.

 Also, the student dress code will be enforced, last year due to the fact that students were having to walk outside because of construction and things were somewhat unstructured we allowed students to deviate somewhat from our dress code. Since we will not have those circumstance this school year the expectation is that students comply with the District dress code (See Student Handbook).

*Please contact your Campus Principal if you have any questions.
